1927 – 2012

LEWISTON — Cecile Rancourt, of Lewiston, died Dec. 8, at her home.

She was born on Aug. 31, 1927, the daughter of Louis Philippe and Ernestine Hamann Gagne. She attended St. Peter & Paul School and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1946.

She was married to John “Bucky” Rancourt on June 22, 1953. He predeceased her on Feb. 18, 1996. They resided in Sabattus for more than 40 years.

She worked for Prudential Insurance Co., Raytheon, Bates College office and later worked at Marcotte Nursing Home/d’Youville Pavilion as administrative secretary until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Sabattus, Sabattus Senior Citizens, and St. Peter’s Classmates ’42. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and crossword puzzles, but most of all she enjoyed being with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda of Augusta and Louise and husband, Edward Nadeau, of Sabattus; three sons, John R. and partner, Rudy, of Portland, James and wife, Tracey, of Sabattus, and Joseph Rancourt of Virginia; nine grandchildren, Nicholas and wife, Sarah Nadeau, Hope and husband, Garth Steffens, Mae and husband, Zachary Mayo of Minot, Jacob, Evena, Jocelyn and Hannah Rancourt, Jessica Mallory, and Zachary and wife, Coleen Alden; three great-grandchildren, Kera Nadeau Steffens, Trynitee Steffens and Lexie Nadeau; three sisters, Julienne St. Pierre, Marguerite Thibault and Denise Morin; two brothers, Louis P. and wife, Yolande Gagne, of Portland and Andre and wife, Monique Gagne, of Lewiston; also many nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.

She was predeceased by her sister, Yvette Williams, in 2007.
