Danville Grange meets Dec. 13

AUBURN — A meeting of Danville Junction Grange 65 will be held on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. A Christmas program will be presented by the lecturer, and refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting.

Members are reminded to bring wrapped books and toys for the Salvation Army. Designate on the tag if they are for a boy or girl and the approximate age level. Gifts should be at the hall by 6:45.

All members and guests are welcome.

Senior cribbage league winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Lewiston Memorial Armory on Dec. 6 were: first, Roberta Greenlaw and Henry Maheux; second, Val Asselin and Sonny Beaudoin; third, Bob Cielinski, three-player table; fourth, Monique Nadeau and Roger Labbe; fifth, Betty Ames and Pat Records.

The annual Christmas party will be held Thursday, Dec. 13, after cribbage. Snow date is Thursday, Dec. 20. Next game will be played at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13. For further information, call Roger Labbe at 212-9253.

NARFE meeting Dec. 18 at Ramada

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the Ramada Inn.

A social hour will be followed by lunch at noon. Ron Nigel will provide Christmas music on his keyboard.

Nine lessons, carols Dec. 21

LEWISTON — A Service of Nine Lessons and Carols will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Holy Family Church, 607 Sabattus St.

The program is the story of the promise of the Messiah, as told in nine short Bible readings from the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Advent carols, hymns and choir music.

The music will be provided by the Saint Cecilia Schola Cantorum and will include selections by Arvo Part, Jacob Arcadelt, Hans Leo Hassler, Mark Sirett, Paul Wohlgemuth and others.

Christmas Eve candlelight service

NEW GLOUCESTER — The New Gloucester Bible Church will hold their traditional Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24. All are welcome. For information call 926-3140.
