SKOWHEGAN — Doris G. Smith, 96, of Skowhegan and Auburn, passed away on Friday, Dec. 7, at the Cedar Ridge Rehab. and Nursing Care Center.

She was born Sept. 1, 1916, in Culmstock, England, the daughter of Ethelbert and Mary Tucker. She was educated in England schools. Her first husband, Arthur Small, died during the Second World War in 1941. She married Lyndall T. Smith, Oct. 3, 1943, in England. He passed away July 10, 1987.

She worked as a hairdresser in England. She crossed the Atlantic to come to America on the ship Queen Mary with an 18-month-old (Warren) and a seven-year-old (John). Once in America, she spent most of her life as a homemaker raising her family. She enjoyed knitting, loved the Red Sox and she loved playing games with the children.

She is survived by three children, John Smith and his wife, Tina, of Gilroy, Calif., Warren Smith and his wife, Pat, of Madison and Sebring, Fla., and Jennifer Clark of Auburn; grandchildren, Maria Avila and her husband, Olegario, Doris Dickinson and her husband, Joel, Frank Smith and his wife, Lynette, Todd Smith and his partner, Karen Pinkham, Steven Smith and his wife, Nicole, Katie Kavanaugh and her husband, Mark, Matt Clark and his partner, Jessica Rac, David Hanna, Jr. and his wife, Tammy and Andrew Hanna; great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Megan, Jacob, Kevin, Grace, Brandon, Ryan, Adam, Emma, Khloe, Joey, Kurt, Hannah, Mara, Alexis, Alivia, Alyssa and Alizabeth; and nieces, Jill Redford of Pulborough, England, and Susan Dowle of Exeter, England.

She was predeceased by son-in-law, Reginald Clark; granddaughter, Elizabeth Clark; and sisters, Olive Reed and Ivy Bending.
