Never before have outside decorations at the Great Department Store been so attractive and brilliant as they are this year. The entire front is one blaze of light in the evening, and even in the daytime the effect is noticeable, for fir has been generously used in banking the walls. “Merry Christmas” and “Happy New Year” as well as “The Gift Shop” are outlined in electric lights. In the daylight basement are toys to delight the heart of any child. The large windows have been made particularly attractive, one being devoted to toys. There is a snow scene for the background, and the electric lights make it a brilliant spectacle at night.

Forty underprivileged youngsters will have a chance to enjoy the pleasure of giving to others Saturday when they go on a Christmas shopping spree sponsored by K-Mart and the Auburn Exchange Club. The Center Street department store will be open two hours early to allow the children, chosen by the Salvation Army, a chance to shop on their own. Each child will be able to pick out $20 worth of merchandise for other members of his family as Christmas gifts.
