LEWISTON — The Tom Luther Quintet will return to She Doesn’t Like Guthries on Friday, Dec. 14, to promote its debut album, “Everything Is Blue.”

The album was released in August as an MP3 download and is available through iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby.

The group can be heard on Jango Internet Radio, as well as MPBN and WRFR. Its  sound is modeled after such jazz icons as Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk, as well as the “downtown” style of New York City as embodied by such groups as The Lounge Lizards and trumpeter Tom Harrell.

The Tom Luther Quintet has performed from Belfast to Portland and recently added its first Boston date at the Lily Pad in Cambridge.

Besides veteran members Mike Whitehead on trumpet and Tom Luther on piano, the quintet includes bassist Shaun Bolduc, tenor saxophonist Gideon Forbes and drummer Jacob Forbes.

In January, they plan to start work on their second album, “Necessity,” scheduled for release in April.

The quintet will perform from 8 to 10 p.m. at Guthries at 115 Middle St. There is no cover charge.
