LEWISTON — Irene E. Ratte, 77, of Lewiston passed away at her home on Dec. 13.
She was born in Lewiston, Aug. 12, 1935, to Alfred and Bernadette (Picard) Ratte. Irene attended St. Peter’s School and graduated from Lewiston High School. She married Maurice W. Cloutier and they had two children, Raymond M. and Teresa M. Cloutier.
After raising her family, Irene worked for many years at Wolf Eye Associates until her retirement.
Irene was a valuable part of the Lewiston-Auburn community her entire life, belonging to such service organizations such as the Patronesses and Exchangettes.
Her faith was extremely important to her and she was a member of the parish of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul her entire life, where she participated in the choir, served as a eucharistic minister for many years bringing the sacraments to those unable to travel to church, and participated in the Cursillo movement.
Irene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Denise Cloutier; her daughter, Teresa Cloutier; her granddaughters, Becky Desmarais, Nicole Canning and Danielle Cloutier; her grandson, Theo Cloutier; her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Leah Desmarais and Austin, Taylor and Cole Canning; her three sisters, Rita Beaulieu, Rose Moreau and Imelda Guay.
Throughout her life, whatever she faced, Irene retained her beautifully optimistic outlook on the world, her kind heart, and her belief in the good in people. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
