RANGELEY —   Freshman forward Blayke Morin tossed in a team-high 16 points and hauled down 14 rebounds in a balanced attack as Rangeley held on for an overtime 56-54 victory over last year’s champ, Richmond, in EWC girls’ basketball action Friday evening.
Senior forward Jamie Plummer was a powerhouse for the Bobcats (2-1) with 29 points on eight field goals and 10 free throws.
Morin connected for seven free throws in the overtime frame for the Lakers (1-0), while Taylor Esty went 6-of-8 from the line in the pivotal fourth quarter, forcing an overtime frame for the eventual winners.
Mt. Blue 38,  Hampden 30
HAMPDEN —   Senior forward Gabby Foy scored a game-high 13 points to lead Mt. Blue to a 38-30 victory over Hampden Academy in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday evening.
The Cougars (2-1) took a 19-16 halftime lead and gradually pulled away in the second stanza.
Senior guard Erin Murphy made three field goals, including a pair from three-point range to pace the Broncos (0-3) with eight points.
Brewer 40, Lewiston 37
LEWISTON — Alexa Grindle sank a 3-pointer as time expired to lift Brewer to a 40-37 victory in girls’ basketball Friday.
Lewiston trailed by as many as 13 points during the contest before tying the game when Tori Denis sank a three of her own with 9 seconds remaining before Grindle’s heroics. Grindle and Maddy Bailey led a balanced attack by Brewer (3-0) with nine points apiece.
Sophomore Emily Brochu netted nine points for Lewiston (1-2), all from behind the arc. Denis and Jenessa Talarico finished with seven points apiece.
St. Dom’s 67, Mountain Valley 50
AUBURN — Kelly Pomerleau poured in a game-high 28 points as St. Dom’s pulled away in the second half for a convincing 67-50 victory over Mountain Valley in MVC girls’ basketball Friday night.
The Saints (2-1) opened the game with a 20-point first quarter to take a 20-14 lead. Mountain Valley cut the deficit to four points at the half, 28-24. St. Dom’s outscored the Falcons 39-26 in the final two quarters for the victory. Faith Grady and Callie Greco contributed with 13 and 12 points respectively, while Alexis Dwinell added 10 points.
Senior Brooke Dolloff led Mountain Valley (1-2) with 14 points. Jena Plourde added 11 in the loss.
EL 69, Brunswick 32
BRUNSWICK —  Eleven different players hit the scoring column for Edward Little as the Red Eddies ran away with a 69-32 victory in girls’ basketball action.
Ashlee Arnold led all scorers with 24 points. The senior also connected on three 3-pointers.
Leading 36-23 at the half, the Red Eddies (2-1) outscored Brunswick 23-0 in the third quarter. Sophomores Brooke Reynolds and Tianna Harriman each netted eight points, while Kate Sawyer and freshman Emily Jacques fired in seven points apiece.
Cony 41, Oxford Hills 39
AUGUSTA —   Crystal West posted a team-high 15 points as Oxford Hills sailed to a 49-39 victory over Oxford Hills in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.
The Rams (1-2) led 31-25 at the half. Emily Quirion notched a game-high 16 points. Alex Rowe collected 12 points for the Vikings (2-1) with seven other players participating in the plunder.
