Dube

LEWISTON — Paul and Rita Dube of Lewiston, were married 50 years ago on Sept. 8, 1962, in the beautiful upper church at Saints Peter and Paul Basilica. They renewed their marriage vows on Sept. 8 in the same place, before a group of 125 family members and friends.

Their four children, Christopher, Katherine, Jennifer and Nicolas, made arrangements for the entire celebration. The Rev. Emile Dube, brother of Mr. Dube, who was ordained in May, officiated at the celebratory Mass, with the Rev. Bob Vaillancourt as co-celebrant. Their grandson, Gregory, 12, played the organ. Grandsons Timothy and Gregory were altar servers; granddaughter Bethany did the first reading and godchild Michelle Todd did the second reading.

Brother Bernard Dube, S.D.B., read the prayers of the faithful, and the offortory procession was done by their grandchildren, Emma, Ava, Abigail, Benjamin, Peter, Bethany, Michelle and Gabrielle.

A reception and formal dinner followed at the Franco-American Heritage Center, with an international menu prepared by the Franco staff and daughter, Katie Morin (Culinery Concepts). The children had photos, albums and memorabilia on display for viewing and they had a video of photographs of 50 years of the couple’s life. Son Christopher Dube acted as master of ceremonies, while daughter Jennifer Charboneau delivered a heartfelt message to their parents. A game of Paul and Rita Trivia took place, where son Nicolas acted as host of the game.

Guests came from all over the New England states and many came from Florida. An open house was held at the home of the couple on Mountview Terrace in Lewiston the following day, where family and friends gathered to reminisce about the past 50 years.
