LEWISTON — Suzanne Ruth (Lalonde) Hearne of Lewiston died at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavillion on Friday, Dec. 14. 

She was born on Aug. 4, 1940, the daughter of Francis and Alma (Madore) Lalonde of Lewiston. She attended schools in Lewiston and graduated from Falmouth High in Falmouth, Mass., while living with her sister’s family, who were stationed at Otis Air Force Base.

Suzanne met her future husband at Otis Air Force Base, where he was stationed as a flight mechanic and aircraft technician. In May of 1960, they were married at St. Patrick’s Chapel in Lewiston. They spent the next 16 years as an Air Force family, having five children and living the military life of many dislocations and moves. She was a very dedicated wife and mother and enjoyed her life as a stay-at-home mom. She supported her husband’s military career 110 percent, through his retirement after 24 years of military service. She especially enjoyed her relationships with other military wives and families during their service time.  Her husband, being a private pilot, they enjoyed flying themselves to Lewiston from Newburgh, N.Y. in different  types of aeroclub aircraft. Upon her return to Lewiston after her husband’s military retirement, she spent the next 36 years raising her children and, as they left the nest, she enjoyed her grandchildren, caring for her plants, swimming in her pool and dining out. She also enjoyed the independence of having her own vehicle, which allowed her to shop at her own leisure. She loved her latest vehicle, which was a 2007 Volks New Beetle. She also enjoyed flying with her husband, who had purchased an airplane, which was based at Twitchell’s in Turner. Suzanne was a member of Holy Family Parish in Lewiston. 

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, SMSGT Robert E. Hearne, USAF/Ret.; her daughters of Lewiston, Laurie Anne and partner, Richard, Lisa Marie and partner, Ray; her sons, TSGT Christopher R. Hearne, USAF/Ret., and wife, Maria, SSGT Robert E. Hearne Jr., USA, (about to retire), and wife, Marilou, Matthew J. Hearne of Minneapolis; four grandsons; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter and her brother, Daniel Lalonde, of Lewiston. 

She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Norman, Richard and John; her sisters, Doris, Rita and Lucille; and grandson, Christian R. Hearne.
