1949 – 2012

OCALA, Fla. — Dorman J. Gauthier, 63, died unexpectedly at his home in Ocala, Fla., on Dec. 9.

He was born in Berlin, N.H., Aug. 8, 1949, and resided in Augusta for more than 40 years.

Dorman worked his whole life serving the sick of northern and central Maine at Augusta General Hospital and was respected in his field, making lifelong friendships an important part of his life.

He was an avid movie fan, lover of music and collector of fine art and glass ornaments. He was a partner in a Signature Christmas Ornament Studio, “FENIX,” co-owned with Ken Linaberry. He enjoyed his gardens and two Boston terriers, Butch and Molly. He was rather proud of the heritage of his unique name, passed on from his grandfather Dorman and Uncle Dorman “Jim” Wheelock, both deceased. He was a talented and popularly sought after country DJ, friend to all at PJ’s Lounge, Augusta, particularly, for many years.

Dorman fought a valiant battle against cancer and won. His generosity to his family and friends was returned to him many times over, especially by loyal friends who shuttled him to and from Maine, New Hampshire and Boston hospitals during his treatments.

Dorman recently moved to Florida to enjoy his new home, well-earned retirement and a longtime dream of getting away from snow!

His parents are Katherine (Wheelock) Gauthier of Dover, N.H., his late father, Donald Gauthier; sisters, Susan Steele (partner Lou Ward), Sandra Armentrout (husband John); and brothers, Daniel and Don. He leaves nephews, Corey and Elijah Pinette; nieces, Dominique, Juliana, Marena, Heather and Kelley. Dorman also leaves behind his very close friends, Larry Fleury, Ingrid and Frank Parady, Ken Linaberry and Dyan Sawtelle. He’ll be greatly missed.

We, his family, are certain that Dorman would want all his friends to have a wonderful Christmas, in his memory. That’s where his heart always was.

GAUTHIER — Dorman J., 63, died Dec. 9. Funeral arrangements and cremation services are under the direction of FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 5740 South Pine Ave., Ocala, Fla. Services and burial will be private in the spring. In lieu of floral arrangements, the family prefers donations to Alzheimer’s Adult Day Services, 610 Sullivan St., Berlin, NH 03570, in memory of Dorman J. Gauthier, on behalf of Katherine Rose Gauthier.
