MONMOUTH — Kendra Newton from Sumner filled out only one “Summer Flowers” raffle ticket for the Monmouth Garden Club quilt at the annual May Faire on May 19 in Monmouth. After purchasing a homegrown perennial for herself, she stopped at the MGC information table and bought one ticket.
Pamela Mulliken, president of MGC, notified Newton of her winning ticket after drawing her name at the MGC Bread and Soup Sale at Longfellow’s Greenhouses on Nov. 3. Pam said, “Judging by Kendra’s reaction, I felt as though she thought she had just won Maine’s Lottery!”
Kendra, a quilter herself, was impressed with the construction and the green and purple colors which match the interior colors of her home. “Just a few days ago, I wondered if the winning ticket had been drawn. I’m so excited that I am the winner!” said Kendra.
The quilt was made and donated by local quilt enthusiast and instructor Nancy Ludewig of Old Fort Quilts, Academy Road, Monmouth. Ludewig is vice president of MGC.
