YORK — A Sabattus man is facing charges after a head-on collision on the Maine Turnpike Monday morning, police said.
Angelica Crites, 21, of Massachusetts had spun out into the left-hand median of the southbound lane, according to Jarrett Mackinnon of the Maine State Police.
When Mackinnon was heading to assist Crites, a speeding Mazda driven by Scott Daniels, 23, of Sabattus narrowly missed rear-ending Mackinnon’s patrol car, but it struck Crites’ disabled vehicle head on.
“I just had enough time to move my cruiser out of the way without being struck,” Mackinnon said.
Daniels’ vehicle and Crites’ 1999 Saab were demolished in the crash, the trooper said. Crites was taken to York Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Daniels was charged with reckless conduct, a Class D misdemeanor, and released on a summons.
The accident, which was reported around 10:30 a.m., did not affect traffic, Mackinnon said.
