LEWISTON — Stephen T. Ridley, 72, a longtime resident of Old Jay Hill Road, Jay, died early Sunday, Dec. 16, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born April 16, 1940, in East Dixfield, the son of Howard B. Ridley and Genella (Keep) Ridley. Steve was a 1958 graduate of Jay High School.

On March 28, 1957, in Jay, he married Sylvia Deane. Steve was owner and operator of Turner & Ridley Oil Co. and later worked as a cement truck driver for Cianbro/Dragon Cement Co. Having been insulin dependent since 1955, Steve retired in 1984 due to his health.

He served on the Jay Fire Department and was a member of the North Jay Sportsman Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, fly fishing and going camping at Nesowadnehunk Campground in Millinocket.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Deane Ridley of Jay; two sons, Stephen Dean Ridley of Chesterville and Ryan Ridley and his wife, Gayle, of Alton, N.H.; four grandchildren, Meredith, Calvin, Justin and Alex Ridley; two great-grandchildren; and his brother, Dr. Robert Ridley and his wife, Kay, of Manhatten, Kan.

He was predeceased by infant daughters, June, Jane, Linda and Deb; and his sons, Clayton and Scott Ridley.
