Staff at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston accepted a recognition plaque from the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. More than 85 percent of the hospital’s employees received a flu vaccination during the 2011-12 influenza season. The Maine CDC and St. Mary’s support all efforts to ensure the health care personnel are kept safe and healthy so they can do their important jobs. Vaccination of all healthcare workers protects vulnerable patients against the flu and is an important component of a patient safety program.
