FARMINGTON — Titcomb Mountain is delaying its opening day from Saturday, Dec. 22, until Thursday, Dec. 27, according to the ski area’s website — www.titcombmountain.com.
The primary reason for the delay is a combination of heavy rain and warm temperatures from Tuesday to Friday.
“We did receive 8 inches of snow on Monday, but unfortunately it became saturated with two days of rain,” the site states. “The snow has settled to about 4 inches and will make a very good base for additional snow as the temperatures cool.”
This mild weather has impeded snowmaking efforts to have the trails, and the T-bar and handle-tow lift lines ready for opening.
“We are expecting additional rain and mild temperatures until Saturday night,” the site states. “We plan on resuming snowmaking on Sunday, Dec. 23. The goals of this session will be to start making snow under the Pony Lift, and on the Beagle and Lower Bunny trails.”
