PARIS — Psychology has become one of the most popular college majors not only because it is a fascinating field of study, but because it provides an excellent introduction to many professions, both established, like clinical psychology, and emerging, like virtual reality. University College at South Paris offers dozens of University of Maine System psychology courses each semester leading to degrees and concentrations in the field.

UMS psychology degrees that can be earned online and at the center include: B.A. in psychology,  University of Maine at Presque Isle; B.A. in social sciences with a psychology concentration, University of Maine at Augusta; and B.A. in psychology and community studies, University of Maine at Machias.

A bachelor’s degree in psychology can be used as a starting point for several different careers. Some psychology majors pursue graduate study in psychology or related fields. Most psychology majors seek employment upon graduation with government or social service agencies, in the medical field or in business.

In addition, courses in psychology can be applied toward many UMS degree programs in the areas of mental health and human services, nursing, liberal studies and more.

Registration for the Spring 2013 semester, which begins in January, is open and ongoing. For more information about the courses and degrees available through University College at South Paris, contact 207-743-9322 or visit www.learn.maine.edu/southparis.
