SOUTH PARIS — Irving W. Brown, 91, passed away on Dec 20, at the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris.

He was born to Carl L. and Ruth M. Brown, Aug 3, 1921, in Bethel. After graduating from Gould Academy, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force; Irving was a proud veteran who earned the rank of tech. sergeant in World War II. He served with the 6th Airdrome Squadron in England and Germany. While serving in England, he met and Married Hilda Mary Wright, who died on Jan. 11, 2011, a member of the British Royal Air Force. Upon returning to Maine after the war, they made their lifelong home in Bethel, where they raised their four children, of whom they were very proud.

Irving engaged in a variety of careers, working many years in the local mills. Upon the construction of Telstar High School, Irving became head custodian, where he worked until retirement. He had a natural ability to fix and repair things and enjoyed working with wood.

Survivors include four children, David and wife, Judi, Kathleen and husband, Larry, Suki and Bob and wife, Suzanne; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A special thanks to the Maine Veterans Home and Rumford Community Home.
