MONMOUTH — Vera E. McCabe, 93, a resident of Fish Hatchery Road, Monmouth, died Sunday, Dec. 23, at Hospice House of Androscoggin in Auburn.

She was born Nov. 7, 1919, in Kisesboro, Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of Howard and Nellie O’Hare Slater.

Vera attended school in Roachville, N.C., Canada.

On March 22, 1983, in Truro, Nova Scotia, Vera and F. Lloyd McCabe were married. Vera was a housewife most of her life. She and her husband enjoyed playing cards.

Vera was a member of the United Church of Monmouth. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd, of Monmouth; a daughter, Elda Miller of Guilph, Ontario, Canada; a son, Gerald McNutt of Riverport, Nova Scotia, and Clearwater, Fla.; two sisters, Ora Bartlett of Toronto, Canada, and Blanche Garrison of Halifax, Nova Scotia; a son-in-law, Harry Cooper of Aliston, Nova Scotia, and Port Charlotte, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Helen Slater, of Stellarton, Nova Scotia; eight grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Bernice Cooper; three brothers, Truman Slater, Bartley Slater and Justin Slater; and a son-in-law, William
