LEWISTON — Bertrand R. Belanger, 87, of College Street, Lewiston, died Monday, Dec. 24, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a long illness.
He was born in Auburn, May 30, 1925, son of the late Alphonse and Antoinette (Poulin) Belanger. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Bertrand married the love of his life, Georgette (Girardin), June 24, 1950, at St. Louis Church. He worked for many years at Clark Shoe, then worked as a custodian for the Lewiston School Department. He was a member of The Prince of Parish of Saints Peter and Paul Basilica.
Bertrand enjoyed traveling with his family; his favorite things were going out to eat and playing cribbage. He was an avid cribbage player and played with his family, friends and the Senior Citizens of Lewiston.
Bertrand is survived by his wife of 62 years, Georgette Belanger of Lewiston; daughter, Louise Belanger of Lewiston; two sons, Raymond Belanger and wife, Lisa, of Lewiston and Phil Belanger of Waltham, Mass.; three grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica and Jonathan; great-granddaughter, Katia; two sisters-in-law, Rita Culliton and Muriel Girardin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by son, Gerry Belanger in 1954; and two sisters, Lucille Theriault and Doris Lepage.
