LEWISTON — Lucille M. Cantin, (Sister Marie Marc Cantin, o.s.u), 91, passed away at St. Mary’s dYouville Pavilion, Lewiston, Friday, Dec. 21.

Lucille was born in Springvale, April 25, 1921, the daughter of Abdias and Laura (Sevigny) Cantin. She attended Holy Family school in Sanford and

graduated from the Mount Merici Academy High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from St. Joseph’s College. In 1938, Lucille entered the Ursuline Novitiate in Waterville and received the religious name Marie Marc and made her final profession of religious vows in 1944.

Throughout her religious life, her ministry was teaching in the lower grades. She loved her students and she in turn was dearly loved by them. She taught school in Waterville, Winslow, Brunswick and Sanford. She also served as local treasurer at Holy Family Convent and Community Councilor at the St. Ignatius Convent in Sanford.

She is survived by three sisters, Annette Laferte of Sanford, Bertha Cantin of Sanford and Sister Marie Clement, Ursuline at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion, Lewiston; two sisters-in-law, Rita and Doris; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one sister, Rita Roux; and three brothers, Josaphat, Arthur and Leo.

The Ursuline Sisters and Sister’s family wish to thank the staff at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion, 3 West and the Androscoggin Hospice, for their devoted care for Sister Marie Marc.
