SOUTH PARIS — Roland J. Beaudoin, 85, of Norway died Dec. 25, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.

Roland was born in Norway, June 19, 1927, the son of Edgar J. Beaudoin and Flordia M. Potvin Beaudoin.

Roland had worked for many years as an Oxford County Deputy Sheriff retiring in 1993. He also faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a communicant of Saint Catherines of Sienna in Norway, member of the American Legion Post 82 and the VFW Post 9787. After Roland’s mother passed away, he lived with his aunt and uncle, Frank and Henedine LaFrance.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Norway; stepchildren, Jimmie Paakkonen and wife, Hazel, Shelley Nicholas and husband, Steven, Debora Peterman and Katariina Bruneau and husband, Mark; 10 grandchildren, Scott and Sonya Smith, Tracie Paakkonen, Todd and Amy Sawyer, Ben and Audrey Shaw, Alyson Tikander, Jeff Peterman and wife, Amie, Ben Peterman, Chris Bruneau, and Kelly Bruneau; seven great-grandchildren, Kayla Paakkonen, Savanna Paakkonen, Rachael Sawyer, Haileigh Sawyer, Tyce Sawyer, Aislinn Shaw and Sydni Smith; nieces, Joline Andrews and Janice Andrews; and nephews, Allen Lovejoy and Joel Martino.

He was predeceased by a sister, Theresa Andrews; and a grandson, Bradley Paakkonen.
