YARMOUTH — Carol Cummings Newcomb, 73, a longtime resident of Cumberland, died on Wednesday, Dec. 26.

She was born in Bath on April 8, 1939, a daughter of Charles and Beatrice Cummings. She graduated from Morse High School, Class of 1957, and attended the University of Maine Portland/Gorham. On Aug. 21, 1960, she married David Newcomb and together they had four sons.

Carol was the epitome of a team mom — with four sons there was soccer, baseball, hockey and basketball, throw in being a Cub Scout Den Mother, she was always on the go. Her home was an “easy” place to go to and it was always open to family and friends — making themselves at home, getting something to eat or just playing Atari. In Carol’s “spare” time, she was active at Trinity Episcopal Church and at various times worked at Fair City Food, Benoit’s, Oneida and Serendipity.

Carol is survived by her four sons, David Jr. of Bath, Chris of Portland, Todd of Auburn, Peter of Yarmouth; and 12 grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, David (1997); her sister, Sally Cummings Sawyer (2010); and her sister, Julie Cummings Caverly (2012).
