Trash collection crews won’t be out on New Year’s Day, and Lewiston and Auburn have different methods for getting trash collections caught up.
In Lewiston, all trash and recycling collections are pushed back one day due to the holidays. Residents with Wednesday collections should put their trash out Thursday. Thursday’s trash should go out on Friday, and Friday’s trash will be collected on Saturday.
The schedule will work in a similar manner during the week of Dec. 31. Lewiston trash will be collected as usual on Monday, with no collections on Tuesday, Jan. 1.
Tuesday’s trash will be collected on Wednesday, Wednesday’s on Thursday, Thursday’s on Friday and Friday’s on Saturday.
Normal trash and recycling collections in Lewiston return Monday, Jan. 7.
In Auburn, residents with Tuesday trash collections will have a makeup collection Saturday, Dec. 29.
Auburn crews won’t collect trash Jan. 1; it will be done Jan. 8.
There will be no Tuesday recycling collections on New Year’s Day, and there will no makeups. The normal schedule will resume Jan. 8 and Jan. 15.
