AUBURN — Farmer Wilfred E. “Buster” Whiting, 80, of 882 Summer St., Auburn, died on Sunday evening, Dec. 23, at the farm, with his family by his side.

He was born in Auburn, on Sept. 10, 1932, the son of William E. Whiting of Auburn and Magdalena Mack of Germany. He was educated in Auburn and was a graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of 1952. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany.

He married the former Donna J. Potter in 1981.

Wilfred and his brother, Elmer, had owned and operated “Farmer Whiting’s,” William E. Whiting & Sons, Inc. Retail and Wholesale Market Gardeners in Auburn. Now the farm will be carried on by Wilfred’s brother, Elmer Whiting, and Wilfred’s son, William “Eric” Whiting. The Whiting family has spread beauty throughout the local area for four generations.

He is survived by his wife, Donna J. Whiting; his son, William “Eric” Whiting and family; and Wilfred’s brother, Elmer Whiting and family, all of Auburn; 11 nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Whiting.
