1920 – 2012
FARMINGTON — Eleanor Campbell, 92, of Farmington, passed away Dec. 25, at the Pierce House in Farmington.
She was born in Chesterville, July 7, 1920, the daughter of Frederick G. and Edith M. (Youngquist) Wheeler. She was educated in the schools of Chesterville and Farmington, graduating in 1937. On Sept. 18, 1937, Eleanor married Leo Campbell, who passed away in 1989.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Pratt’s Inc. for 28 years and was a ballot clerk since 1960. Eleanor volunteered at Mallett School for 12 years, was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, serving in the Altar Guild, a member of the Farm Bureau, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Gold Leaf Institute at UMF. She was a great cook and enjoyed making her own books, puzzles, word searches and reading.
Eleanor is survived by two daughters, Marie Lucarelli of Jay, Patricia Volkernick of Largo, Fla.; her son, Paul F. Campbell and his wife, Muriel of Winslow; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-granchildren; and one sister, Marion Filaroska.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leo; two daughters, Sharon Beatham and Fran Scott; two sisters, Doris Pratt and Barbara Brinkley; brother, Samuel Wheeler; and two son-in-laws, Larry Lucarelli and Paul Volkernick Sr.
