DIXFIELD — The Police Department responded to 40 complaints during the previous week. Among them were:
* At 3:26 p.m. Dec. 27, police responded to a report at Ellis’ Variety that a customer drove off without paying for $45.01 in gas. Upon investigation, officer Anne-Simmons Edmunds discovered that the buyer’s credit card had been declined. Edmunds was able to reach the buyer, who returned to the store and paid for the gas.
* At 10:24 p.m. Dec. 21, Melissa Adams, 38, of Uncasville, Conn., was pulled over on Spring Street. She was issued a summons for operating without a license, because her Connecticut license expired in 2002. Adams was also issued a summons for driving 39 mph in a 25 mph zone, as well as failing to produce evidence of insurance. Adams’ court date is March 5, 2013.
* Ellis’ Variety reported at 7:56 a.m. Dec. 19, that the store cashed a bad payroll check for more than $1,000. Police are investigating it as a case of fraud.
