1924 – 2012

LEWISTON — Jeannine Y.  Beaudette, 88, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, at d’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in Berlin, N.H., Sept. 24, 1924, daughter of Wilfred and Rose-Anna (Garand) Beaudette. She was educated in Catholic schools in New Hampshire and Maine.

She entered the community of the Sisters of Charity (Grey Nun) of St. Hyacinthe, P.Q., and was responsible for children of different age groups. She was also very active with the Boy Scouts while in Rochester and Manchester, N.H.

She studied to be an occupational therapist. After graduation, she worked at Hospice Marcotte in Lewiston, helping the sick and elderly with range of motion and doing more exercises.

After some time, she decided to work on her own and worked at Intown Manor in Lewiston with the veterans and also with the ladies. Jeannine loved working as a therapist and helping those in need until her retirement.

She was an avid gardener, a very good cook, loved nature and also traveling. She loved her collie, “Honey,” and her shepherd, “Ginger.” Jeannine had a stroke on Sept. 30, 1999, and had been a resident of d’Youville for more than 12 years.

She is survived by three sisters, Cecile Anctil, Pauline Fortier and Lorraine Russell, all of Lewiston; a brother, Lionel Beaudette and his wife, Nancy, of Connecticut; numerous nieces and nephews; and also a longtime friend, Velma Russell.

Jeannine will be missed by many, but especially by her friend and guardian, Cecile Gelinas, with whom she shared a home.

She was predeceased by her parents; three sisters, Theresa Breault, Anita Colangelo and Anette Fedishen. 

The family and friends of Jeannine would like to thank the doctors and nurses and all other employees of 4 West for all the care and attention they have given to her over the years. They are remarkable people that we will never forget!
