Oak Hill 51, Telstar 48
BETHEL — Telstar just missed a late shot at the buzzer as Oak Hill squeaked by with a 51-48 win in a hard-fought MVC boys’ tilt Thursday.
Parker Asselin led the Raiders (3-4) with 13 points, while Luke Washburn chipped in with 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Rebels (1-5) were paced by Cameron Pike and Mike DelDuca with 15 points each.
Madison 53, Monmouth 37
MADISON — Austin Kane scored 13 points and ripped down 11 rebounds, and Madison pulled away from Monmouth in the second half Thursday night for a 53-37 MVC boys’ basketball win.
Steven Lawrence added 11 points for Madison (2-5). Monmouth (3-3) cut the Bulldogs’ lead to 22-20 at halftime before an 14-6 third-period run broke it open.
Brandon Goff and Billy Cummings paced the Mustangs with eight points apiece.
Belfast 71, Leavitt 69
BELFAST — Ryan Rice sank two free throws with 7.9 seconds remaining to boost Belfast past Leavitt. 71-69, in KVAC Class B boys’ basketball Thursday night.
Andrew Middleton scored to tie the game for Leavitt (3-5) before the Hornets were called for a foul near halfcourt, setting up Rice’s heroics.
Rice had 18 points and Yanni Rakis added 16 for the Lions (4-4). Belfast led 55-47 at the end of the third quarter before the Hornets rallied.
Middleton finished with a game-high 23 points and eight rebounds. Mitchel Davis delivered 13 points, while Zac Goulette chipped in 12 points and five assists.
Rangeley 41, Acadia Christian 39
BANGOR — Orrin Mitchell nailed four of his six successful free throws in the fourth frame as Rangeley rallied to post its first win of the season, 41-39, over Acadia Christian in Class D boys’ hoop Thursday.
Mike Haley led the Lakers (1-3) twith 14 points, while A.J. Elmes chipped in 13. Acadia took the lead briefly in the fourth quarter before Mitchell helped seal the win.
Spencer Young led Acadia with a strong 16-point effort, while Bradley Reed contributed nine.
Dirigo 73, Wiscasset 46
DIXFIELD — After sprinting out to a 15-point advantage in the first frame, Dirigo raced away to post a 73-46 MVC win over Wiscasset Thursday.
Robbie Babb led the reigning Class C champion Cougars (7-0) with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Travis Frost stepped up with 12 points, eight steals and seven assists. Riley Robinson also got into the act with 12 points.
The Wolverines (4-2) were paced by Austin Haskell 10 points. Dylan McMahon scored nine.
