LEWISTON — Emily Brochu and Kelsey Dumond hit key baskets in overtime and the Blue Devils hit their free throws down the stretch as Lewiston edged Hampden Academy in overtime on Friday, 52-47.
Brochu led the Blue Devils (3-5) with 14 points, including two 3-pointers, while Brie Wilson hit for 11 points. Dumond and Laurianne Murphy chipped in with eight each.
Erica Meehan led the Broncos (0-8) with 16 points in the loss.
Monmouth 54, Lisbon 37
LISBON — Kylie Kemp dropped in 17 points and Monmouth Academy’s defense held Lisbon to single-digit scoring for two quarters as the Mustangs (6-1) rolled to a 54-37 victory in a girls’ basketball game Friday.
Turnovers hurt the Greyhounds (2-5) as Monmouth built a 31-19 lead at halftime.
For Lisbon, Denise Thomas dropped in the team-high 11 points.
Rangeley 44, Greenville 30
GREENVILLE — Tori Letarte led a balanced Rangeley attack with 11 points and Abby Abbott added 10 more to lead the Lakers to a 44-30 win over Greenville in Class D girls’ basketball action Friday.
Taylor Esty chipped in with eight points and grabbed eight rebounds to help the Rangeley (5-0) cause.
Cortney Mann and Michaella Gilbert paced Greenville (1-5) with seven points each.
Edward Little 75, Brewer 38
AUBURN — Senior guard Ashlee Arnold notched a spectacular 25 points to lead Edward Little to a 75-38 triumph over Brewer in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Red Eddies (6-2) trumpeted a 20-4 run in the second quarter to take a 41-15 halftime lead. Tianna Harriman contributed 10 points for Edward Little.
Senior forward Morgan Small had a team-high 11 points for the Witches (4-3) in the losing effort.
Dirigo 65, Telstar 34
BETHEL — Senior center Kelsey Hutchins drained 13 points in a balanced attack as Dirigo secured a 65-34 victory over Telstar in MVC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Cougars (4-2) rolled to a 37-13 halftime lead with effective half-court pressure.
Freshman forward Rebecca Howard led the Rebels (0-6) with a team-high nine points.
Oak Hill 62, Wiscasset 18
WALES — Freshman forward Grace Sabine scored a game-high 12 points in a balanced attack as Oak Hill sailed to a 62-18 triumph over Wiscasset in MVC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Raiders (4-4) took a 21-5 run in the second quarter for a 32-11 halftime lead.
Sadie Goulet and Jamie Prue contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Oak Hill.
Kasey Cromwell had a field goal and two free throws for four points for the Wolverines.
Boys’ basketball
Lawrence 58, Oxford Hills 45
FARIFIELD — Junior guard Xavier Lewis scored 19 points and senior forward Spencer Cary added 17 and pulled down 12 rebounds as Lawrence sidestepped Oxford Hills, 58-45, in a boys’ basketball game Friday night.
The Bulldogs led 29-21 at the half, but the stubborn Vikings cut Lawrence’s lead to four points twice in the second half.
For Oxford Hills, Dalton Rice scored 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, and Ryan Godin had nine points.
Hampden 68, Lewiston 46
HAMPDEN — Senior forward Matt Palmer tossed a game-high 18 points to power Hampden Academy to a 68-46 victory over Lewiston in KVAC boys’ basketball action Friday.
The Broncos (8-0) separated themselves from Lewiston on a 16-3 run to close the second half. Zack Gilpin contributed 14 points, while Tyler Norris chipped in with 12 for Hampden.
Sophomore forward Quintain Brown led the Blue Devils (3-5) with nine points on three field goals, including one from three-point range and a free throw.
