Jerrit Gilks-Gatcomb, 9, children’s technician Megan Emery and Isho Mohamed, 12, create exothermic reactions during Mad Science Storytime at the Lewiston Public Library on Monday. The science-based storytime is held from 1:30 to 2 p.m. every Monday through February. Each session will feature stories on a scientific property with experiments to follow. Exothermic reactions are chemical reactions that release energy in the form of heat. The experiment used common household items such as yeast, dish soap and hydrogen peroxide.
