LEWISTON — The public is invited to the debut of a 40-minute documentary about area homeless youth.

The 40-minute film, “Homeless Youth in Lewiston, Who Are They and What Can You Do?” was made by the Lewiston Youth Advisory Council.

It will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Downstage at L/A Arts, which is underneath L/A Arts on 5 Canal Street Alley.

The documentary focuses on three local teens, Kat, Will and Kendra, and how they became homeless. Reasons why some youth are homeless are because their parents have lost jobs and their homes, or they can’t live with their families.

The documentary was made to increase community awareness that there are about 200 area youth who are homeless.

Donation boxes will be on site if those attending would like to bring toiletries for local organizations that assist homeless youth.
