COLCHESTER, Vt. — The following area teachers were named Unsung Heroes in the Saint Michael’s College Teacher Recognition Program. The teachers were nominated by former students who are now first-year students at Saint Michael’s College.

Mary Hubka of Lake Region High School in Naples was named by Shannon VanLoan who said, “I think Senora Hubka should be recognized because she is one of my only teachers from high school that had a big impact on my life. Not only did she go above and beyond at all times to help me succeed in her class, but she also took the time to know me on a personal level. I considered her my ‘grandmother of high school’ and I want her to know how special our relationship is to me.”

Laura Landry of Sacopee Valley High School in Hiram was named by Maya Richmond. “I feel that Ms. Landry deserves recognition because she is an incredible role model and friend to all the students that pass through her classroom and guidance office,” Landy said. “Her ability to multitask and push her students to produce the highest quality of work is incredible and she never fails to go above and beyond in everything she does.”

“We feel very fortunate to have these students as members of our community,” said Jerry Flanagan, SMC vice president for admission and enrollment management.
