WATERVILLE —  Kenni Norton’s 26 points propelled the University of Maine at Farmington past Thomas, 63-49, in a North Atlantic Conference women’s basketball contest at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium on Thursday night.

Farmington (4-8) held the lead for the majority of the first half, with its largest lead being 12 at the 4:59 mark when the Beavers went on an 8-0 run. Norton had 15 points in the half.

For the Terriers, Emilee Reynolds recorded a team high 15 points and added six rebounds.

Norton was 10-for-17 from the floor on the night. Holly Oliver chipped in eight points and a team-leading eight boards for the Beavers.

UNE 57, Curry 39

MILTON, Mass. —  Michaela Flanagan tallied a game-high and season-best 15 points while senior Beth Suggs totaled 13 points and 19 rebounds as the University of New England women’s basketball team picked up a 57-39 Commonwealth Coast Conference victory over Curry College on Thursday.

With their seventh straight victory against the Colonels and 17th in the last 18 meetings, the Nor’easters improved to 8-4 overall and 5-0 in conference. Curry fell to 6-6.

Flanagan did her damage in just 16 minutes of playing time off the bench, knocking down all four of her 3-point attempts in the process. She also grabbed six rebounds and a pair of steals in the contest.

The double-double for Suggs was her seventh of the season, and the forward added a pair of blocks. Suggs was more than the difference in the rebounding differential, with the Big Blue holding a 55-37 advantage on the glass.

UNE sophomore Kelly Coleman chipped in with 11 points, and first-years Sadie DiPierro and Lauren Hayden had seven apiece. Fellow rookie Meghan Gribbin dished out five assists.

For the Colonels, Christine Deiorio led the way with 11 points and Jeanette Fallon contributed 10.

Johnson & Wales 60, St. Joe’s 56

Providence, R.I. — The Johnson & Wales University men’s basketball squad defeated Saint Joseph’s, 60-56, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest on Thursday evening.

Johnson & Wales was led by Curtis Lucas with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists while Frank Robinson also had 17 points and five boards for the Wildcats. Tom Garrick Jr. added 12 points whileQuarry Greenway was also in double figures with 11 points, four rebounds and five blocks.

Matthew Medeiros paced St. Joe’s with 22 points. Steve Simonds was also in double-figures with 10 points and six boards for the Monks.

St. Joseph’s took the early 6-1 lead, but Johnson & Wales responded with a 14-4 run, capped by a free throw by Robinson to take the 15-10 advantage with 11:32 left in the first half. The Wildcats first double-digit lead came with 5:28 remaining in the half when a layup by Lucas made the score 28-17.

The Monks climbed back into the game and cut the lead to 58-56 on a layup by senior Julio Vasquez with 1:08 remaining. That would be as close as the Monks would get, however as Garrick hit a pair of free throws with seven seconds left to secure the win.

With the win Johnson & Wales improved to 6-7 on the season and 5-1 in league play while St. Joe’s fell to 7-5 for the year and 3-3 in the GNAC.

Therriault tops 1,000

BOSTON – Senior Dailon Wilson’s basket with 1:13 left in overtime gave the Wentworth men’s basketball team the lead for good as the Leopards defeated Endicott, 70-66, Thursday night.

Senior Corey Therriault of Auburn and Edward Little High School became the 13th Wentworth player to reach the 1,000-point mark on a basket with 8:56 left in the first half.
