Community Center open in Oxford

OXFORD — The Oxford Community Center is now open to Oxford residents. Hours of operation are Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 to 6 p.m., Fridays from 2 to 8 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.

Events include movie nights, crafts, life size chess and checkers, Wii games, pool table, ping pong, puzzles, cards, dominos, hula hoops and jump roping.

There are also computers and wi-fi available for those with laptops or iPads.

The ice rink will be open with lights until 10. There will be free skate from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 2 on Saturday and 1 to 3 on Sundays. A no-hockey rule will be enforced during these times.

The center is planning its upcoming chili challenge and best pizza contest. For more information call 539-4563.

Clothing Center open Jan. 19

HARTFORD — The Hartford Community Church Clothing Center will be open Saturday, Jan. 19, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The Clothing Center is located directly opposite the church.

Harrison VFW breakfast Jan. 20

HARRISON — The Harrison VFW Post, on the Waterford Road, will hold its popular breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at the post on Route 35. The breakfast features scrambled eggs, French toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, home fries, fruit cup, sweet breads, orange juice and beverage. Donations will be accepted.

Pot pie supper in Hebron

HEBRON — A chicken and turkey pot pie supper will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Hebron Fire House, Route 119.

Cost is $8, $4 under 12. Eat in or take out. Proceeds benefit Historical Society building fund.

Savvy Caregiver Training starts

FARMINGTON/PARIS — SeniorsPlus announces Savvy Caregiver training scheduled to begin on Mondays starting Jan. 28 in Franklin and Oxford counties.

The training will help those caring for a family member with dementia to learn how to take care of themselves, reduce stress and also communicate more easily with the loved one. This is a six-week workshop, with each session lasting two hours.

Sessions will be held at DHHS Farmington, 114 Corn Shop Lane, Mondays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. or at DHHS South Paris, 243 Main St., Suite 6, Mondays from 2 to 4 p.m.
