DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Gaslight Theater in Hallowell is preparing for its upcoming production of “Mrs. Packard” and is need of an unusual prop — a straitjacket.

If any of your readers has one or would know how to acquire one, please contact director Bruce Hertz at bruce2hertz@gmail.com.

We are also in need of at least three old-style camp cots. Thank you. — David Marshall, drmicm@yahoo.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Community Little Theatre is presenting “God of Carnage” a dark comedy about two couples meeting over coffee and drinks to discuss a fight between their 11-year-old sons, resulting in one of them losing two teeth and a damaged incisor nerve. The play will be presented Feb. 8-17.

The conversation starts amicably and civilly enough, but it soon resorts to a heated exchange with adult language. CLT is requesting large coffee table books for the living room set.

If interested, please bring them to the box office at Great Falls Performing Arts Center, 30 Academy St., Auburn. Hours are 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday. Thank you. — Rachel Morin, publicist, rachelmorin@myfairpoint.net

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have two questions that hopefully you or one of your many readers would be able to assist me with.

First, do you know of anyplace where you can take knives to be sharpened? I have a couple of knives that are rather dull and need a good sharpening.

Also, do you know of any people who do alterations for curtains? I have some 84-inch-long curtains that I would like shortened to 63 inches.

I hope that someone can help me with these, and I thank you for all the helpful hints that Sun Spots has provided over the years. — No Name, Minot

ANSWER: Sun Spots has entries in her Rolodex for both of your reqeusts. For sharpening:

DEAR SUN SPOTS, I do a lot of crocheting and have recently misplaced my Susan Bates crochet hooks, sizes I and J. They are aluminum.

I have had these for many years, and they are the only hooks I can crochet with. Does anyone in the South Paris area have a couple of spares? I would pay the postage.

I crochet scarves and hats for the school. It would be deeply appreciated. Thank you. Hope I hear something soon. — C. Park, P.O. Box 363, South Paris, ME 04281, cmp4345@oxfordnetworks.net
