The Maine Turnpike Authority has issued a heavy traffic alert for motorists traveling southbound on the Maine Turnpike between Exit 63 in Gray and Exit 53 in Falmouth.
According to the alert, issued at 7:45 a.m., traffic is moving slowly at mile 55 southbound because of a collision. Motorists should be prepared to stop and approach the area with extreme caution.
