GARDNER, Mass. — Former St. Mary’s Health System executives Winfield S. Brown, MSB, MHA, FACHE, and Michael Grimmer, BSc ENG, have been named to senior leadership positions at newly formed North Central Healthcare based in Gardner, Mass.

Brown, a Maine native, was formerly vice president and executive director of the Sisters of Charity Foundation and has been named president and chief executive officer of North Central Healthcare.

Grimmer, formerly vice president/system engineer and support services officer at St. Mary’s Health System, has been named chief operating officer of Athol Hospital, a member of North Central Healthcare.

North Central Healthcare was formed on Jan. 1 of this year as the parent company, which will oversee operations for newly partnered Heywood Hospital in Gardner and Athol Memorial Hospital in Athol, Mass. Brown, who previously served as president and CEO at Heywood, will now lead administration for the entire health care system, comprised of Heywood Hospital, Heywood Medical Group, Winchendon Health Center, Heywood Rehabilitation Center, Heywood Realty, Athol Memorial Hospital and a charitable foundation.

Grimmer, a longtime Lewiston resident, stepped in as interim COO at Athol Memorial during the transition and will continue to lead operations of the critical access hospital.
