1974 – 2013

AUBURN — Kevin Anthony Pomerleau, 38, KP to his many friends, rode his Harley through the gates of Heaven on Friday, Jan. 25, where he was greeted by too many family members and friends to count.

Kevin was born Oct. 29, 1974, in Norway, son of Glen and Sandi Betts Pomerleau. He was educated in Poland and Auburn schools. He joined the U.S. Marines in 1993 because it was important to him to serve as his father did. He did tours in Bosnia and Afghanistan and especially loved serving in Okinawa before his discharge in 1997.

After his military service, Kevin spent his years in Maine and Florida, where he had legions of friends who knew him as a gentle giant whose soft touch belied his huge size. He expressed himself most intimately through his art, as he loved sketching all his life. As an adult, he used his artistic talents as a motorcycle designer, tattoo artist and painter, with many people considering themselves fortunate to have a piece of his work.

As a further expression of his love of people, Kevin founded a social organization called Loyal Blood Family. It started among his Marine brothers but spread to include many people from all walks of life who were devoted to each other. Kevin’s Maine family only recently learned of how wide spread the group has become and of how much Kevin had impacted so many people.

Kevin is survived by his parents, Glen and Lynne Pomerleau of Poland and Sandi and Dic Pearce of Auburn; his sister, Rachael and Nate Whitney of Benton and their son, Liam; his grandmothers, Laurel Martin of West Poland and Mary Jordan of Portland; and too many uncles, aunts, cousins and dear friends to count, much less list.

His family would like to especially thank the doctors, nurses and staff of both Central Maine Medical Center Intensive Care Unit and Hospice House in Auburn. Their care and dedication to Kevin and his family and friends during our time of trial will never be forgotten.
