HCC offering flu shots

FARMINGTON — Flu shots are still available from the Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County by stopping by its office at 105 Mt. Blue Circle, Suite 1, which is one-fourth mile west of Franklin Memorial Hospital on Routes 2 and 4.

In a recent update, the Centers for Disease Control reports that the flu started early and the virus is spreading rapidly. It is especially important this year to get vaccinated as this year’s strain is particularly aggressive.

HCC office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anyone wanting a flu shot should call first to ensure that a nurse is available to administer the shot. Call Cheryl Moody, RN, at 779-2214.

There is a suggested donation of $20, or by donating what you can afford. Insurance, Medicare or Medicaid cannot be accepted.

Flu shots will be provided to individuals 18 and older. Those who are under the age of 18 should contact their primary care medical provider.

Themed dance for heat fund

FARMINGTON – A themed dance and social event from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, featuring local band Shepherd’s Pie, will raise funds to benefit fuel assistance for Franklin County residents.

Organized by the Franklin Area Ecumenical Ministry, Heat Dance II will take place at the University of Maine at Farmington’s North Dining Hall.

Keep Me Warm supper Feb. 2

FAYETTE — There will be a Keep Me Warm supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m.  Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Fayette Central School.

Menu will be beans and casseroles, salads, desserts and drinks. Price is adults $6, children $3, under 4 free. Great food, music and raffles.

All-you-can-eat breakfast

KINGFIELD — A community all-you-can-eat breakfast is being offered from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Kingfield United Methodist Church on High Street.

The menu will include homemade sausage gravy with biscuits, pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, home-fries, muffins, coffee and juice. The cost is $5 per person. A discounted rate is available for children.

Friendship Squares dance

WILTON — Friendship Squares will host a mainstream/mainstream/plus square dance with “Valentines” as the theme, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at the Cushing School. The caller will be Al Hipkins and the caller, Carol Stewart. All are welcome.
