LEWISTON — SeniorsPlus will join the Maine Association of Nonprofits at Maine Nonprofit Day at the State House. The 10th annual Nonprofit Day will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in the Hall of Flags at the State House in Augusta.

Nonprofit Day provides an opportunity for nonprofits and government to assert their commitment to working together in order to creatively, efficiently and effectively serve the people of Maine.

Maine’s safety net programs need to be solid and Maine’s nonprofit staff and volunteers are ready, willing and able to help make the complex decisions necessary to keep working families in Maine from falling through the cracks. Quality of life in Maine needs to be preserved and Maine’s nonprofits work every day in our local communities enriching our lives through the promotion of the arts and our culture, the preservation of our environment, the advancement of science and technology, and much more.

The 2013 Nonprofit Day at the State House shines a light on Maine’s essential nonprofit sector and its commitment to work with state government to restructure our systems in a thoughtful way.
