Edward A.McIlheron, proprietor of the cigar store, factory and pool room at 132 Lisbon St. yesterday bought the land and buildings he now occupies. This is considered one of the best locations in the city and is a valuable piece of property. The building is a wooden structure three stories high, has a frontage of 22 and one-half feet on Lisbon street and runs back to Lisbon street alley a distance of 92 and one-half feet. The cigar store and pool room are on the first floor. The second floor is occupied by a barber shop as well as a store room for tobacco. The cigar factory is located on the third floor. It is understood that he contemplates, in the near future, the erection of a four-story brick block to take the place of the wooden building which now occupies the lot.

Preliminary steps in developing a housing code for Lewiston were taken last night at a meeting of the Code Review Committee of the Lewiston Urban Renewal Authority. William MacDonald, director of the Lewiston Urban Renewal Authority, told committee members that one of the requirements for federal aid in the Urban Renewal program is that those involved have a housing code. MacDonald said that the city already has a fire, electrical and plumbing code, but that Lewiston is now going to need a housing code.

Portions of Main Street and Sabattus Street are slated for major reconstruction beginning this summer at an estimated cost of $1.8 million, Bill Harris, design engineer for the Department of Transportation, said today. Main Street will be reshaped to include a center turn lane along a one-half-mile stretch between Montello Street and Memorial Avenue. Sabattus Street is scheduled to be widened east of Pond Road for approximately one mile.
