FARMINGTON — Miranda Nicely ignited an early 20-13 first quarter run that set the tone for Mt. Blue as the Cougars hustled to a convincing 51-41 victory over Messalonskee on Tuesday night.

Nicely led the Cougars (11-6) with 19 points, including 10 in that key first frame. Addie Brinkman chipped in with nine points, while Gabby Foy added eight.

Messalonskee (6-11) was paced by Kelsey Mayo with a solid 12-point effort, while Kassi Michaud tallied 11 and Taylor Easler added 10.

Maranacook 61, Leavitt 53, OT

READFIELD — Sarah Clough led four players in double digits as Maranacook forced overtime and ran off in the extra session with a 61-53 win over Leavitt in KVAC girls’ basketball action Tuesday.

Christine Miller (13), Mariah Vining (12) and Catherine Sanborn (11) also scored in double digits for the Black Bears (11-6). Jenna Cote drained four 3-pointers and led all players with 20 points for the Hornets (13-4).

Dirigo 70, Telstar 24

DIXFIELD — Dirigo jumped out to a 17-point lead in the first frame and sprinted away to a 70-24 rout over Telstar in an MVC girls’ tilt Tuesday.

Kelsey Hutchins led the Cougars (13-4) with 12 points and six rebounds, while Ambyr Wilson chipped in with 10 points. Kayla Gaudin also contributed with nine points and five rebounds in a well-balanced attack.

The winless Rebels (0-17) were paced by Rebecca Howard with a solid nine-point effort.

Monmouth 51, Lisbon 41

MONMOUTH — Monmouth used a 15-9 run in the third quarter to pull away from Lisbon and hustled to record a 51-41 win in more late-season MVC girls’ action Tuesday.

Kylie Kemp led the Mustangs (13-4) with 16 points, while Sierra Spencer chipped in with 15 in an effective two-player attack.

The Greyhounds (5-12) were led by Denise Thomas with 11 points, while Mia Durgin added nine.

Freeport 41, Poland 29

POLAND — Nina Davenport poured 16 points into the net Tuesday to propel Freeport to a 41-29 romp over Poland in a WMC girls’matchup.

Jocelyn Davee chipped in for Freeport (11-6) with nine points, while Leigh Wyman and Aubrey Pennell each added six.

The Knights (6-11) were led by Kayla Yirrell with 11 points, while Emily Bolduc and Michaella Arsenault each added six.

Gray-NG 42, Greely 30

CUMBERLAND — Gray-New Gloucester rallied back from a five-point deficit to notch a 42-30 upset win over Greely on Tuesday night.

The Patriots (13-4) used a 10-2 run in the second quarter to take control of the contest.

Maria Valente led the squad with 17 points, while Haylee Cote chipped in with 15.

Greely (13-4) was paced by Jaclyn Storey with a solid 13-point effort.

St. Dom’s 43, Winthrop 29

AUBURN — St. Dom’s opened a 9-1 lead in the first quarter and doubled that by halftime in a 43-29 victory over Winthrop.

The Saints outscored Winthrop 20-10 in the second quarter to build a 29-11 advantage.

The Ramblers outscored the Saints 18-14 in the second half but couldn’t rally.

Faith Grady led the Saints (9-8) with 17 points while Kelly Pomerleau added 13.

Winthrop (1-16) got 10 from Gabby Stewart and six from Cat Ouellette.

Mt. Ararat 56, Lewiston 46

LEWISTON — Mt. Ararat (14-3), which was led by Caitlin LaFountaine’s 22 points and Mallory Nelson’s 15 helped the Eagles build a 10-point 27-17 halftime lead before beating Lewiston, 56-46, in a girls’ basketball game Tuesday.

Lewiston (5-12) had a terrific12-0 run to erase the deficit and gain a two-point advantage, but Mt. Ararat regained the lead and maintained it for the balance of the contest.

Mt. Abram 44, Carrabec 33

CARRABEC — A furious second-half rally led helped steer Mt. Abram to a 44-33 victory over Carrabec (5-12) in a girls’ basketball game Tuesday night.

Trailing 22-15 at the half, Mt. Abram’s (9-9) comeback was fueled by Mikaela Luce and Miranda Smith. Neither team made a three-point shot.

Spruce Mountain 61, Mountain Valley 34

JAY — Leading by only three points at the half, 20-17, undefeated Spruce Mountain ( 17-0 ) utilized a dominant 41-point second half to beat Mountain Valley, 61-34, in a girls’ basketball game Tuesday.

Led by 15 from Vanese Barnes’ 12 points by Ladesta Tracy and 10 points contributed by Kailee Newcomb. Mountain Valley’s Brooke Dolloff scored 13, including the visitors’ only 3-point score.

Rangeley 74, North Haven 33
RANGELEY —  After jumping out to a commanding 21-8 lead in the first frame, Rangeley kept up the pace and raced away to a 74-33 victory Tuesday.
Seve Deery-DeRaps led the Lakers (16-1) with 17 points and five steals, while Taylor Esty chipped in with 12 points. Blayke Morin also contributed with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Denmark native Emina Gunic added 10 points and hauled down 12 rebounds.
North Haven (4-13) was paced by Gina MacDonnell with a game-high 20 points.
