DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Lewiston Auburn Film Festival is gearing up and getting ready to put on a fabulous four-day event April 4 to 7. We’ll have two days of international independent film screenings, “Survivorman” Les Stroud in attendance all weekend, world premiere of the Peloton Project film, student film competition and more!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I sent you a response to your inquiry about the tree winners at the Kora Shriners Feztival of Trees, but it didn’t go through due to a problem with my antivirus software. Rest assured that I will answer any query. In fact, I am a regular reader of your column.

As for the questions in the Jan. 29 column, the winners of all of the trees, as well as the 50/50 drawing and the lottery tree and other prizes, are all posted on the Kora Shriners website at www.korashriners.org/tree-sponsors/tree-sponsors. Each tree is listed by sponsor with a picture of the tree and the name of the winner.

The drawings for all of the trees and other prizes are held immediately after the close of the Feztival on the last Saturday. The process is lengthy simply because of the number of drawings. There are 10 to 15 people who check the numbers on the tickets against the name and address collected when the tickets are purchased.

Usually the entire process takes until about 9 p.m. The winners are contacted immediately by telephone and are asked to pick up the tree or prize during the following day.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am hoping that you can help me locate a news article regarding the death of my cousin, Grace Guild. I have been told that she died in an automobile accident on the Maine Turnpike (near Lewiston) sometime in August 1967. Her parents were Stephen and Genevieve Guild. ANSWER: You can find old issues of both the Daily Sun and Evening Journal at the Google archive. The websites are http://tinyurl.com/334ehgd and http://tinyurl.com/2v2uu7x, respectively. The search through the pages can be rather time consuming, but at least you know the month.

However, even if you do find the article, printing it won’t be easy. Sun Spots has addressed this issue in a previous column (“Google archive printing possible, not easy,” http://tinyurl.com/3ufnme3).

Normally, Sun Spots suggests a visit to the Lewiston Public Library, where you can print off the microfiche, but that could be difficult since you are out of state.

Once you know what day the story appeared, you could contact the library (www.lplonline.org, 207-513-3004, lplReference@LewistonMaine.gov) and see if they can assist you.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In the big snowstorm at the end of December, I was snowblowing my driveway when a good Samaritan stopped to plow my driveway in return for a cup of coffee. I was so happy.

I went right in to make a pot of coffee and set the table with pastries for him. I waited while he plowed, but he never came in. I looked out and saw he had left.
