BETHEL — The Family Fishing Festival and the Maine Service Centers Coalition are among the items to be discussed during Monday night’s selectmen’s meeting at the Bethel Town Hall. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.

The selectmen will discuss whether to approve the use of Angevine Pond for the annual Family Fishing Festival. The festival, which is free and hosted by the Upper Andro Anglers Alliance and Trout Unlimited, has been held at Angevine Park for several years and, according to the agenda, the recommendation is for selectmen to approve the use of the pond.

The festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, and will offer free casting workshops and fly-tying instructions through the Mollyockett Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

Door prizes provided by outfitters and businesses such as L.L Bean and Kittery Trading Post will be available. The Bethel Fire Department will host a barbecue.

The weekend of June 2-3 is a state-designated free fishing weekend, which means that resident and nonresident freshwater fishing licenses are waived.

In other business, the board will select who will be designated the town’s representative for the Maine Service Centers Coalition. According to the agenda, the recommendation is for the board to appoint Town Manager Jim Doar.

The selectmen will also vote whether to renew the liquor and entertainment licenses for the Funk Red Barn restaurant and nightclub.
