1930 -2013

AUBURN — Geraldine Keenan Brushwein, 82, of Auburn, passed away on Feb. 8, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, surrounded by her immediate family.

Gerry was born in Lewiston, on Aug. 15, 1930, and lived in Auburn throughout her life.

Her main focus was her family and nothing made her happier than spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends at the Wee House, a home that has been in the family for over 50 years.

In her later years, Gerry was involved with Senior Citizens, acting as the treasurer for First Auburn Senior Citizens and as a member of the New Auburn Senior Citizens. She also played an active role in planning last year’s 65th Edward Little High School reunion.

With her at her passing were all of her children, including Patty LaFontaine and her husband, Dale, of Greene, Anne Brushwein and husband, Stephen Spain, from Yarmouth, Kurt Brushwein from Beaverton, Ore., John and Amy Brushwein from Gray, and stepdaughter, Rae Rodgers; along with her granddaughters, Jessica Mosher and Lauren Laplante. She is also survived by her sister, Patty Jean, 84, from Nashua, N.H. In addition, her family included grandchildren, Kyle and Leah Brushwein, Grace Spain; and great-grandchildren, Luke and Lilah Mosher; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Brushwein; and her second husband, Richard Brushwein.

Gerry lived a long and active life and she will be greatly missed.
