LEWISTON — Ronald R. Lagasse, 65, of Farwell Street, died Feb. 7, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, from complications of Lou Gehrig’s disease.

 

Born in Lewiston on Oct. 30, 1947, the son of Real and Lorraine (Gosselin) Lagasse, he grew up in the L/A area and graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of 1966.

 

He was a U.S. Marine veteran, enlisting while still in school and began active duty the fall after graduation. He spent most of his service overseas in Okinawa and Vietnam, where he became friends with Ronald Spinelli, with whom he kept in touch and visited each other every year after they were discharged.

 

Following his service to his country in 1970, Ron met and married Joanne Lagasse on May 22, 1971. They took many trips together and following their retirement, they took a three month road trip across the country.

 

Ron attended and graduated from CMTC and began working at Tambrands as a machine mechanic, where he retired after 35 years of service. He had a passion for traveling and working on projects around the house.

 

He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Lagasse) Lagasse; his daughter, Brandee Lagasse; his brother, Robert and his companion, Brenda, of Lewiston; his sister, Susan Crandlemire; and his mother, Lorraine Lagasse, both of Sun City, Calif.; his nieces, Michele and husband, Michael and Nicole and husband, Weston, who also lives on the west coast, and Joy and husband, Jonathan, of New Hampshire; and a great niece, Nyasia.

 

He was predeceased by his father, Real Lagasse.
