DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is there someone out there who will make a full- or queen-size quilt? The front could be made from my husband’s old T-shirts. I am willing to pay someone to do to this for me or to supply the items needed to make one.

My husband passed away Oct. 4, and I would love to have a quilt made with some of his favorite shirts. It would be like him hugging me when I would cover myself with it. — Norma Ramsay, nnewbury@yahoo.com , 330-0469

ANSWER: That’s a lovely idea and will be a wonderful momento.

Sun Spots has several T-shirt quilts her mother made, as well as some throw pillows. Pillows are especially handy if the T-shirt has writing on the back so you have a covering for both sides.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I want to thank you for your research and the info you gave me on the book “Gambie the Gorilla” (Jan. 18). I wore the book out, which is why I didn’t have it.

I would also like to let the public know about Artios Books in Auburn. I think it should be added to your Rolodex. Walter, the owner, took it upon himself to find me a copy of “Gambie” for a little bit less than what was charged on eBay without being asked.

It makes a person feel good to think there are people like Walter willing to help. Please add his bookstore to your Rolodex. Thanks so much. — No Name via email

ANSWER: Artios is already on Sun Spots’ list of used bookstores, and she often sends readers to them. But rare books usually require the wider field provided by the Internet. She’s glad Walter was able to help you.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a wool pram blanket and a large heavy wool sleigh blanket that I would like to give away. — Evelyn, 782-6673

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Auburn Middle School will be hosting a winter carnival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 2, as a team fundraiser. One feature of our winter carnival is selling craft tables, allowing local crafters to sell their products.

We are looking to sell table space for $25 each. The money raised will be used to fund learning activities inside and outside of school.

Please contact me for more information and to reserve a table. — Doug Dumont, ddumont@auburnschl.edu

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Where would we be without your helpful information? In the dark on many issues, I guess.

I’m sending this along for the person who was interested in the Lighthouses on Parade. I was one of those people who was interested at the time and, along with my sister and her husband, spent a good part of two weeks traveling the state until we had seen every one of them.

They are scattered around, but viewable if one is vigilant. Offhand I can think of three that I see regularly: Gifford’s on Minot Avenue in Auburn, DeMillo’s on the Portland waterfront and across from the Public Safety building in Westbrook.

Keep in mind that many businesses that have them on display have repainted them to reflect their particular business. Keep up the good work. — Jeannine Pelletier, Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I found the patterns Arelene Nason was looking for in Sun Spots paper Feb. 4. She has not responded to my email and no one answers the phone. I will share with her if she has not found them and she contacts me. — Lucretia Rand, crete41@roadrunner.com, 583-6622

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you to the mystery person who paid for my lunch at Uncle Moe’s on Sunday, Jan. 20. You made my day. Thank you. — No Name, No Town
