1934 – 2013

PERU — Joan G. Martin, 78, of Peru died Sunday, Feb. 10. She was formerly of Rumford.

Born in Rumford on Dec. 28, 1934, she was a daughter of John and Eva (Samson) Roderick. She was a graduate of Stephens High School. She worked for Rumford Bank and Trust Co. from 1953 to 1994.

Joan was a member of the Chisholm Ski Club, where she served as treasurer, a member of the Athletic Booster Club, an avid Alpine skier, and enjoyed bowling and playing cards with the girls. She was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior St. Athanasius – St. John Church in Rumford.

She was married in Rumford on April 7, 1956, to Aime Martin, who survives, of Peru. Other survivors include two daughters, Patricia Martin of Fairfield and Pamela Dow of Rumford; two sons, Greg Martin of Peru and Timothy Martin and his wife, Debbie, of Fairfield; eight grandchildren, Jamie, Liane, Kara, Jeff, Jacob, Abigail, Tiffany and Jeremy; two great-grandsons, Logan and Parker; two brothers, Gilbert Roderick and wife, Diane, of Bangor and Robert Roderick of Rumford; and a sister, Constance Roy of Lincoln.

She was predeceased by her parents.
