RUMFORD — Rumford Senior Citizens will hold a St. Valentine’s Day Social at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14. Desserts and coffee will be served while Sammi Angel provides a Valentine’s Day program. The event is free but donations would be greatly appreciated. Call the center at 364-4700 to make reservations.
The board and membership meeting will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27. The board meeting is at 10 a.m. and the membership meeting is at 11. All meetings are held at the Senior Center. A drawing will be held at the membership meeting for a door prize. Attendance is required.
On March 10 members will be going to see the Stars on Ice show at the Cumberland County Civic Center. This will be Kurt Browning’s final U.S. Tour. Dorothy Hamill will be returning and joined by Olympic medalist Ekaterina Gordeeva, Ilia Kulik and Joannie Rochette. The show starts at 4 p.m. with the bus leaving the center at 1:30. The cost is $57. Dinner will be at Cole Farms restaurant; each person will pay for their own meal. Reservations and money need to be in by March 4. Seating is limited so call early.
The bus will be going to Portland for a shopping trip on March 14. It will leave at 8:30 from the Center. The cost for the bus trip is $7.50.
A trip to Indian Head Resorts for St. Patrick’s Day is planned for March 16. Irish food, drinks and entertainment will be on tap. The cost for the trip and show will be $53. The bus will leave the center at 11:45 a.m.
On March 17 a trip to the Cumberland Civic Center is being offered to see The Band of the Scots Guards. This is the Royal Regiments of Scotland featuring the pipes, drums and highland dancers of the Black 3rd Watch Battalion. Show starts at 4 p.m. with the bus leaving the center at 1:30. The cost for the trip is $55. Dinner at Cole Farms will be on your own. Reservations and money need to be in by March 11. Seating is limited so call early for reservation.
March 26 there will be voting for the election of board members. There are some openings that need to be filled. Submit nominations well in advance of the voting date.
A trip to Montreal/Quebec City is planned for May 20-24. The cost is $565 per person, double occupancy. A $75 deposit is required to reserve a seat. Full payment is due on or before March 13. Nickel beano is scheduled for every Tuesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Membership dues are now due. Dues run from January to January and are required to be paid by April 1 of each year. Active membership allows voting on activities of the center as well as the privilege of attending activities provided.
Active membership is any person or spouse of a person who is 50 years of age or older, retired or on disability.
Honorary membership is any member who attains the age of 90. At that point they are not required to pay membership dues.
