1914 – 2013

RUMFORD — Eugenie M. Arsenault, 98, of Rumford, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Rumford Hospital.

“Jenny” was born in Rumford, on March 3, 1914, to the parents of Joseph and Alice (Brisard) Plourde and had attended local schools. She resided in Rumford her entire life except for four years as a resident of the Schooner care facility in Auburn. She recently resided at the Rumford Community Home.

She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius — St. John Church; member of the Ladies of St. Anne and St. John’s Guild. She enjoyed puzzles, movies, playing cards and traveling.

She was married to Robert “Hunt” Arsenault, with whom she provided a wonderful and loving family environment for her five children. He died May 23, 1986.

Survivors include daughters, Marie Hartranft and husband, Tom of Greenville, S.C., and children, Lynn and Lori; Ann Bitter of North Palm Beach, Fla. and children, Karen and Joey; sons, Robert Arsenault and wife, Mary Ellen of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and children, Chris and Mark, Richard Arsenault and wife, Sally of Hanover, and children, Ryan and Aaron; 16 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Alphonse “Jun” Boudreau of Milford, Conn. and children Bobby, Paula and Andrea; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband; daughter, Alice Boudreau; grandson, Kevin Bitter; son-in-law, Ronnie Bitter; and all her siblings, Arthur, Albert, Alfred, Alphonse, Edmund, Antoinette and Loretta and twin sister, Alice.

“Jenny” was most proud of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Her home was the focal point of many fun-filled family gatherings for all. She was a kind and wonderful mother who had a sweet smile for everyone she met.

She fondly remembered and often spoke of the many wonderful times she had with her nephew, John Derouche and wife, Jeannette, and their family.

The family of “Jenny” acknowledges and gives a very heartfelt thanks to their sister-in-law, Sally Arsenault, for all the wonderful and loving care she extended their mother for over 25 years.
